The ancient eraIt is the height of the Roman Empire in the West and the great Han Dynasty in the East.  As these two empires complete a road to trade spices and silk, several "barbarian" tribes begin to flourish in the north.  The Bantu people of southern Africa are disconnected from the rampaging Romans, divided by vast deserts.  Meanwhile across the oceans, the Mayan and Incan civilizations begin to build great cities and amass wealth.

Purpose:
The purpose of this scenario is to introduce players to a world map which takes place during a familiar time in history.  This scenario was developed because of participant interest in the fall of Rome. The reason this particular point in history was chosen was to allow players to compare the fall of the greatest empire in the west with the greatest empire in the east:  how these empires were connected by roads and what events led to their disintegration. Playable civilizations include Rome, Chinese Han Dynasty, Parthia, Maya, Bantu, Inca.
